T.O. Plastics Expands HIPS, ABS Plastic Extrusion Capacity

Written by T.O. Plastics Staff | February 14, 2014

We've added new extrusion equipment in our Clearwater, Minnesota plant that enables increased capacity for ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and HIPS (high-impact polystyrene) roll stock production. As a vertically integrated thermoforming company, we use this material in our own operation and sell over stock to other companies for their production needs.

High Quality Extruded Plastic Sheets

The best products start with the best plastics. This investment in extrusion equipment will satisfy our internal growth over the next several years and affords us the opportunity to supply ABS and HIPS plastic sheet to other companies.

ABS: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

As a thermoplastic material, ABS is ideal for low-heat manufacturing processes (like thermoforming) because of it's low melting point. It is easily machined (formed) and then easily recycled at the end of the product/packaging lifecycle. ABS has a relatively low price point, making it a great option for sturdy parts and packaging.

HIPS: High-Impact Polystrene

Very similar in features and benefits, HIPS is a budget friendly, yet reliable plastic material that is manufacturing friendly. Again, ideal in low-heat conditions, this thermoplastic produces a strong, impact resistance product, and is recycleable.

T.O. Plastics' Extruded Material Specifications

With this added equipment, we plan to offer utility or prime grade HIPS and ABS plastic sheet in gauges from .015” to .070”.  Roll widths are 20” to 30.75” with a 6” core size.

The extruded plastic sheet is available in black or white as standard colors, or custom colors made to order, in truckload quantities. If you are interested in learning more or buying material, contact us:
